Sagami Kokubunji Temple
Sagami Kokubunji is a temple belonging to the Koyasan Shingon sect of Buddhism. The honzon (main image) is the Yakushi Sanzon statue. The temple's bronze bell was donated in 1292 and was made by famed craftsman Mononobe Kunimitsu.
高野山真言宗の寺院で、本尊は薬師三尊像です。鎌倉時代以降、相模国分寺は衰微し、戦国時代には戦火によってほぼ焼失し、高台にあった薬師堂のみが残されていたといいます。現在の相模国分寺は、その薬師堂を高台の下に移し再興されたもので、国分寺の法灯を今に伝えています。また、銅鐘は、正応5年（1292年）、国分に居館を構えていた海老名氏の一族国分季頼が国分尼寺に寄進したもの（国の重要文化財）で、作者は鎌倉円覚寺の梵鐘（国宝）等を手掛けた名工物部国光です。
